A welcomed announcement of Growth Funding by the Commonwealth Department of Health is a real boost for community transport sector in Victoria with over 85% of all Transport funding allocated to Victoria. The Victorian Community Transport sector has been under funded from the Commonwealth Home Support Program for many years and this announcement of growth funding recognises the demand for transport services for the thousands of older Victorians whom rely on this vital service to remain living independently.

VTCTA president Lyndon Stevenson said “ the obvious focus on Transport services in Victoria is encouraging and of course is pleasing, however the funding from the CHSP must continue to rise if the sector is going to support current demand let alone the future demand. The issue of funding from the CHSP to the Victorian sector has been highlighted by the VTCTA and furthermore endorsed by the national peak body Australian Community Transport Association (ACTA). ”
