Richard is now considered ‘almost’ a local in Mildura after being born in McLaren Vale and spending his early years in South Australia before moving to Mildura in 1984.
Having worked in the community services industry for over 30 years, and completing various qualifications in the Welfare, Community Services, Disability and Management areas, Richard has gained a considerable understanding of Business Analysis, Dispute Resolution, Customer Service, Administration and Management within the Not-For-Profit sector. He has a demonstrated record of building and maintaining customer and business relationships, proven team leadership skills, the ability to analyse, identify and develop business opportunities, and also proven ability in strategic planning, event management and human resources.
Richard has previously had experience on the VTCTA as a Board member and returned to the Board in 2020 as he wants to make a difference by contributing to the Community Transport industry, which he believes is so under-rated and unrecognised by many in positions who make decisions that can truly make a difference.
Richard is very passionate about the Mildura community and developing services to meet the needs of people living in the community. He has very little tolerance of self-centred people in the industry who are doing it for their own self-gratification that makes them feel good.
Previously holding high level management positions in large organisations in the Homelessness, Out of Home Care and Disability service areas, Richard commenced at Sunassist Volunteer Helpers Inc. over 10 years ago as the Executive Officer as he believes working with volunteers is true community service.
Personally, Richard enjoys keeping physically fit and feeding his passion for travelling to experience various outdoor activities including hiking, mountain climbing and water sports. He also appreciates and cherishes spending time with his three beautiful children.
